HOLBÆK PUBLIC LIBRARY

A modern and welcoming interior

Holbæk Public Library needed a re-organization of its collections and a series of added functions. Furthermore, a formerly unused floor had to be incorporated.

The consistent theme is composed of shades of bright red, large photographic writer portraits and quotes, printed on birch veneer, shelf unit ends, and bespoke seating arrangements and storage. At the entry floor, the pick-up point has been highlighted. The large window units have been turned into study spots and reading nooks. The ground floor has a special newspaper reading area lit by the natural light from the huge skylight.

On the top floor, a special ‘reading circle’ has been designed, a combined reading and storage unit for children’s books and fun events. We have also included a study hall with bespoke student desks and a modern version of the classic library study hall.
